I like your beat. It's cool how you have the basic rock beat and then embellish with the cymbal. I also like how you add the crown of the ride in the second part.
Valerie, Good first project. It's a clean, basic rock beat as your post says. Consider a bit more action in your drum fill. a basic rock beat can show tremendous contrast by interesting fills that connect the sections of a piece together- (think Led Zep). The fill in this project was very simple. Not that simple is bad, but that contrast is good.
